Irish Dog Foods began using Herbst Software in 2008, initially as a financial accounting system. As the business evolved, the team identified opportunities to extend the use of Herbst Insight ERP across the wider organisation -beyond finance – to support manufacturing, quality, warehousing, and traceability requirements.

Through a structured ERP project, Irish Dog Foods implemented Herbst Insight to deliver real-time data capture, stock control, and full end-to-end traceability across production and dispatch. The system now underpins key operations, replacing manual spreadsheets and disconnected processes with a single source of truth accessible across the business.

Herbst Insight plays a critical role in supporting audit readiness, quality management, and compliance, while its flexibility allows the system to adapt as business needs evolve. Integrated warehouse management, production kiosks, EDI functionality, and reporting tools have enabled Irish Dog Foods to scale operations efficiently across multiple sites and regions.

The partnership with Herbst has also extended beyond implementation, with ongoing collaboration, system development, and discovery days helping the business continuously improve processes and unlock further value from the ERP system.

It has changed how we operate. Before, it would have been Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. Now everything is in one place on the system, and it’s in real time. If we were on spreadsheets and paper, that would not have been possible.
